Dana Sanders Talbert, an Oklaboma native, is an enrolled Cherokee. She retired early from her position as administrative assistant in the Tulsa Indian Health Clinic to spend more time with family. After retirement, Dana continued her lifetime hobby of quilt making. Realizing that basket weaving is a special tradition and continues to have special meaning to the Cherokee, and other tribes relocated to Oklahoma, she began learning the techniques of Cherokee and other SE Indians. She has passed on her skills of quilt making and basketweaving to her daughters and grandchildren. For several years, she has taught and demonstrated basketry in art festivals, special venues and in schools. She currently serves as treasuerer for the Oklahoma Native American Basketweavers.
